Box Elder County Court Docket Searches
For a Box Elder County court docket search, start with Utah Courts Xchange. It covers case history for both the District and Justice Courts here. Pick the jurisdiction first. Then narrow the results to Box Elder County or one named court. A case number is the cleanest key. If you lack one, other filters can still narrow the docket search. Try party name, company, case type, citation, location, and date filters. Be careful: each Search click is billable, and no result set goes past 500 records.
- Identify the likely court and case family.
- Search by number or a narrow name and date query.
- Open the case-number link for extended history.
- Check the newest event and current calendar.
- Request documents from the holding clerk.
Box Elder Court Access Hub
Brigham City holds three public counters. The First District Court clerk sits at 43 N Main Street, 435-734-4600, and keeps District criminal, civil, domestic, probate, and judgment records. Box Elder County Justice Court, at 81 N Main Street, Suite 103, handles traffic, infractions, Class B and C misdemeanors, and small claims; call 435-734-3390. The elected County Clerk at 1 S Main Street is a different office entirely, keeping county-government records and elections rather than the state court docket.

The county court map lays out that jurisdiction split, which keeps a docket request from landing at the wrong clerk.
Court Dockets: What They Show
Utah calls a docket a case history or extended case history. It is a dated register. One entry can show a lot. It may list the court, case number, type, and caption, plus party roles, judge, and attorneys. Filings, hearings, orders, judgments, charge data, and public financial entries can appear too. Still, the docket is not always the whole case file. And a line describing a complaint or charge only reports what was filed. It does not show the allegation was proved.
| Header | Court, location, number, type, and filing date |
|---|---|
| Parties | Names and procedural roles |
| Proceedings | Dated filings, settings, notices, and rulings |
| Documents | Public images available for purchase in eligible cases |
| Outcome | Disposition, judgment, dismissal, or later satisfaction |
Read the dates in order. A reset is not a dismissal, and a setting is not a ruling.
Inside Utah Courts Xchange
Xchange pulls its entries from Utah's CORIS court information system. Public information shows up only after courthouse staff enter it. The portal offers guest access and subscriptions. Courthouse terminals give free public access at most District locations and possibly some Justice locations. Confirm terminal availability before you travel. The official Xchange landing page presents the access options in one place.

Remember, the screen is a gateway to public history. It is not for filing pleadings. Utah eFile/eFlex serves registered filers, and MyCourtCase serves parties in their own supported matters after identity steps, so keeping those products separate avoids a common dead end.
Box Elder County Courts and Their Dockets
Utah District Court is a court of record with general jurisdiction. The First Judicial District covers Box Elder, Cache, and Rich Counties. Its Box Elder seat is in Brigham City. Felonies, Class A misdemeanors, most civil cases, domestic matters, probate, and judgments all land there. Justice Courts are limited-jurisdiction courts. They take Class B and C misdemeanors, infractions, traffic, ordinances, and small claims.
| Court | Main Box Elder docket | Public route |
|---|---|---|
| First District | Felony, Class A, civil, domestic, probate | Xchange and District clerk |
| County Justice | County lower criminal, traffic, small claims | Xchange and county court clerk |
| City Justice | City traffic and ordinance matters | Xchange and local clerk |
| Juvenile | Specified youth and welfare cases | Restricted access route |
Box Elder Venue Can Change
Box Elder County runs a distributed court system. Tremonton and Willard publish local Justice Court contacts. Garland City Justice Court closed on October 1, 2025, and its cases and services went to Box Elder County Justice Court. Later Judicial Council material approved expanding Tremonton Justice Court territory to Garland. Do not collapse those events into one undated claim.
For an older Garland case: keep the former Garland venue in search notes, then use the current county service contact and verify the live location in Xchange and the calendar.
A place name in a caption or address does not establish venue. What controls is the court printed on the citation, filing, or case result. That matters in Perry, which has no separate municipal Justice Court docket, and state guidance routes local small claims to the county Justice Court.
Court Dates and Settings in Box Elder County
Box Elder County hearings show up in the Utah Court Calendars tool. That tool is separate from Xchange. Weekday updates land at 5:30 a.m. You can pull a docket by case number, party, judge, attorney, date, or location. Brigham City District Court and Box Elder County Justice Court each have their own links. Remember, though, that a calendar lists what is set to happen. It is not the full chronological docket history. So a missing entry is not a missing filing.
The official calendar page lets you run that docket search directly.

A calendar date can change. Compare it with the newest docket event, then contact the judge's team or the clerk when a remote link, courtroom, or reset is unclear. Court proceedings may not be recorded or transmitted.
Box Elder Court Dates and Settings
A setting is scheduled court activity. It may be an arraignment, pretrial conference, motion hearing, review, trial, sentencing, small-claims hearing, or another event. Record the date, time, court, location, judge, and event type exactly as displayed. A broad court session is not the same as an individual setting. When a date moves, save the old and new entries. Do not treat the old item as erased. A continuance postpones an event. A cancellation removes a setting but does not necessarily close the case. If a Webex link is absent, contact the court. First District's remote-hearing order governs technology and evidence practices for applicable proceedings. For deeper scheduling detail, see the Box Elder County Court Schedule page.
Docket Access Under Utah Law
Utah court records are presumed public unless a law, rule, or court order puts them in another class. UCJA Rule 4-202.02 defines public, private, protected, sealed, and restricted records. Rule 4-202.03 controls who may see each class, and Rule 4-202.04 supplies the written request route.
A visible case history does not make each document public. Sealed and expunged cases are omitted from Xchange, juvenile categories follow restricted rules, and some domestic or probate items remain private.
A blank result in the public docket search can simply mean the record is sealed or restricted. Tell the clerk if you believe you hold authorized access, and bring any order or identification the court requires. Resist guessing at protected facts from what the public index leaves out.
Box Elder Docket Copy Options
Not every copy is the same product. A case-history screen, a plain document image, and a certified record each serve a different purpose and carry a different price. On Xchange, an available public electronic document costs $1. Paper copies at the courthouse run $0.25 per sheet. Under the current statewide fee schedule, a certified copy is $4 per document plus $0.50 per page, while an exemplified copy runs $6 per document plus $0.50 per page.
When the image is missing, the file is old, or you need certification, use the Utah court-record request process. State the court, the case number, the record type, the date, your preferred format, and whether you want inspection or copies. Most requests draw a response within ten business days. Staff time and delivery can raise the cost.
One point of Box Elder docket etiquette matters: the record-holding court certifies a judicial file. The elected county clerk does not.
How the Clerk Keeps Docket Records
Docket data lives in layers. Court staff enter case information into CORIS at the courthouse holding the file. Xchange then publishes the public layer on top. The First District clerk keeps the Box Elder County District history and its documents. Justice clerks at the county and municipal level keep their own lower-court files. Juvenile staff maintain a separate, restricted record.
Older cases may predate full online coverage. Ask the clerk whether the case was converted into CORIS, still sits at the courthouse, or moved to archives. For a specific document, give its title and date. The clerk must identify a record with reasonable specificity. Inspection, ordinary copies, certified copies, transcripts, and hearing media each follow their own rules and charges.
The county-government clerk can still help with county commission or election records. Just do not treat that office as the District docket keeper.
Box Elder Docket Workload
FY2023 reports show what flows through Box Elder County courts. District Court logged 692 criminal filings and 429 domestic filings. It also recorded 907 general-civil filings, 1,076 judgment filings, and 188 probate filings. Debt collection alone drove 808 of those general-civil filings. Justice Court handled the volume. It logged 7,852 total filings and 7,943 dispositions, including 7,026 traffic entries and 755 misdemeanor filings.
Treat these figures as context, not a live docket. They count filings rather than unique people, prove no outcomes, and dispositions can exceed new filings when older cases close during the reporting year.
City-by-City Court Dockets in Box Elder County
The five largest incorporated cities in Box Elder County use different docket routes. City Hall is not always a court clerk. Check the venue printed on the case or citation first, then work through Xchange, the statewide calendar, and the clerk who holds the record.

Verify Box Elder Docket Changes
Court arrangements shift. Venue, judge assignment, remote procedure, and city-court service can all change. So date every result you save. Before acting on a setting or payment instruction, compare the live Xchange location, the current calendar, the judiciary directory, and the local court page. Garland's 2025 closure and the 2026 Tremonton territorial action both show why stale results mislead.
When a portal and a local page conflict, call the record-holding court. District matters: 435-734-4600. County Justice matters: 435-734-3390. Tremonton answers at 435-257-9509, and Willard at 435-723-2634. Ask one focused question. Ask which court now holds the case, what setting is current, or what form and fee apply.
Box Elder Docket Access Screens
Official pages sort out the right channel before any docket search begins. The county's court-type comparison lays out the split between court levels.

Broad civil and higher criminal cases head to District Court. Lower criminal, traffic, and small-claims matters go to Justice Court instead. Classification steers a search toward the right court docket. It proves nothing about an outcome. Utah's instructions for courthouse terminals walk through the in-person option.

The free terminal route works well when paid Xchange access is unnecessary. Bring a case number, the court type, a party name, and the filing year. Remember that a screen view is not a certified copy. The Utah e-filing overview explains that separate system.

E-filing submits documents, Xchange searches public history, and MyCourtCase gives parties controlled access to their own supported case. Three tools, three tasks.
Box Elder Record Request Log
A short request log makes any Box Elder County docket search reproducible. Write down the court, case number, query fields, search date, result location, document title, and clerk contacted. Note the source. Was it Xchange, a free terminal, the calendar, MyCourtCase, a mailed form, or an archive response? Record the amount paid. Note whether the copy was ordinary, certified, or exemplified. If the court denied or limited access, preserve the classification it gave. Do not guess at hidden facts.
Good notes prevent two common mistakes. A later calendar check should not quietly overwrite an earlier setting. A document image is not certified unless the clerk supplied certification. Box Elder County has several record keepers, so the court-location field belongs in every entry. Clear source details let you confirm an update with the same office later.
