Search Box Elder Cases by Name
Utah Courts Xchange is the public face of the CORIS records that District and Justice Courts enter. To search Box Elder County cases, pick District Court, Justice Court, or both. Then scope the query to the county or to one known court. Type the name exactly as it was filed. A company goes in the last-name or company field. Run your Box Elder County case search there.
- Choose the court level and Box Elder County search scope.
- Enter the last name or company, using an asterisk after a useful name stem.
- Add a first-name stem, birth date when appropriate, case type, court, or date range.
- Review all filters before pressing Search because each Xchange search click is billable.
- Match county, location, case type, filing date, case number, and party role.
| Field | Use | Caution |
|---|---|---|
| Last name/company | Person or business | Use filing spelling and wildcard |
| First name | Narrow a person | Middle names and suffixes vary |
| Birth date | Separate similar criminal names | Not always shown |
| Case type | Limit the record family | Select the official Utah code |
| Search scope | County or court limit | Statewide can create duplicates |
A name match by itself proves little. Check several public fields, including court, case type, and filing date, before you treat a result as the right case.
Box Elder Xchange Controls
The Xchange portal relies on JavaScript, which makes its controls awkward to probe directly. The fix is simple: read the official Xchange help, which spells out every filter. You can combine jurisdiction, search type, case number, party names, case type, scope, citation, and location. Four kinds of date filters round out the set.
Those filters matter for real searches. A careful query can pull a Brigham City District case apart from a county or city Justice Court case with the same name attached.
Search Box Elder Case Numbers
Utah MyCase states its rule plainly: a case number is exactly nine digits, with no letters. Xchange's public example, 085502036, notes that the first two digits give the filing year. The court publishes no guide to the digits after that. Treat any guess about court or case type drawn from the later digits as unreliable.
Numbers repeat across Utah, so a case number alone will not isolate a file. Set the jurisdiction and the Box Elder County court location before you search. When several matches come back, sort them out by case type, filing date, parties, and court. A federal number like 2:26-cv-00825 is a PACER matter, not an Xchange one.
Split a Large Box Elder Search
Xchange stops at 500 results per search. A common surname or a business name in Box Elder County can hit that ceiling fast, and the system will not say so. What looks like the end of the court records may just be the cap. Split the query by court, case type, filing year, or a tighter date range.
Set filters before Search. A non-subscriber session currently costs $10, and the official help says every press of Search counts as a billable search.
Filing dates tell you when a Box Elder County case began. Each date filter in a docket search does its own job. Disposition dates track the outcome, judgment dates mark entry of judgment, and judgment-disposition filters flag satisfied judgments. Those four are not interchangeable, so pick the one that matches what you want from the court docket.
What Box Elder Search Returns
Each row in a Box Elder County docket search points to one possible case. Open the case number and the full public history unfolds, entry by entry. That link leads to the expanded docket, not to every document image; where public electronic filings exist, some carry a separate purchase link instead.
| Header | Court, location, case number, case type, filing date, style, judge, and status. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Names, party codes, and lawyers of record where shown. |
| Proceedings | Chronological filings, hearings, minute entries, orders, judgments, and dispositions. |
| Settings | Date, time, location, judge, and hearing type. |
| Documents | Links to eligible public filings for purchase, currently $1 each. |
| Account | Revenue, trust, fine, fee, paid, due, and balance fields when present. |
What you pull from a Box Elder County docket search is a summary row, not a certified copy. If you need something formal for official use, the clerk's office can certify the record for you.
Box Elder Party Codes
A search row is not a certified copy. When you need a formal copy for official use, the clerk holding the record provides certification.
- PLA / DEF
- Plaintiff and defendant in a civil matter.
- PET / RES
- Petitioner and respondent in a petition case.
- AKA / DBA
- Also known as and doing business as.
- GAL
- Guardian ad litem, a court-appointed representative for defined interests.
- INT / OTH
- Intervenor or another listed role.
The official party-type list should control when an unfamiliar abbreviation appears.
Statewide and Box Elder Search
Skip the hunt for a county-run docket database. Box Elder County does not maintain one of its own. Instead, Xchange covers the whole state, and you can narrow any docket search to Box Elder County or to a single court. MyCourtCase works on a different principle entirely. It matches a party to that party's own case, so it is best for people tracking their own filings. The calendar tool is narrower too. It lists current hearing settings rather than the full record of a case.
| Channel | Best use | Access |
|---|---|---|
| Xchange | Public District and Justice case history | Paid online; free terminal at most District courthouses |
| MyCourtCase | A party's own history, papers, hearings, payments | Account and identity steps |
| Court Calendar | Current public settings | Free web search |
| Clerk request | Missing, older, or certified documents | Counter or written request |
Utah Courts also describes a public terminal option, though you should confirm that the Justice Court has a terminal before making the trip.
When Box Elder Search Fails
A blank result is a clue, not a verdict. Before concluding a court docket does not exist, run through the usual suspects. Was the case filed in District Court or a Justice Court? Could a municipal court have handled it? Try alternate spellings and the wildcard form, a different filing year, and a different date type. For a traffic ticket, search by citation number and by citation location. Garland cases are a special puzzle, since the 2025 closure moved matters to another court's jurisdiction.
Age matters too. Some records simply predate a court's full use of CORIS. Most District Courts were on CORIS by the end of 1998. Justice Courts came aboard at different times, and each one decided how much of its older material to convert. The clerk holding the file can tell you about paper, microfilm, or archived records for those early cases.
Box Elder Access Restrictions
Xchange's public side leaves plenty out of view. Sealed and expunged cases never appear. The same goes for juvenile delinquency, child welfare, termination-of-parental-rights matters, adoptions, and civil commitments. Domestic and probate files can carry private sections as well. UCJA Rules 4-202.02 through 4-202.04 set out how records are classified. They also explain how to request access.
Use careful wording. Say that a case was “not located in the public search under the filters used.” Never turn an empty public result into proof that a case does not exist.
Some Box Elder County case files sit behind access restrictions. A person who claims a right to nonpublic material must go through the clerk's request process and state the basis for access. A broad name search by a public user cannot bypass that restriction.
Save a Box Elder Search
When a Box Elder docket search pays off, write down the details. Save the official URL, the date and time, jurisdiction, court scope, and name spelling. Record the case number, case type, date filters, result count, and the fields used to verify the match. Keep any purchased public document's title and date on a separate line. That keeps it apart from the case-history entry. The Xchange landing image comes from the official portal.
The guest and account choices make one thing clear. Public retrieval, party access, and filing accounts are separate functions, so pick the one that fits your task. For the document behind an entry, use the Box Elder County court case records process.
Box Elder Citation Searches
Got a traffic ticket in Box Elder County? The citation number is usually your quickest search key. Type it in along with the court location. Utah reuses citation numbers from county to county. Once results come back, match the violation date, the filing date, the party, and the court before trusting the hit. A ticket can also land before anyone opens a case. So a same-day miss may just mean staff have not keyed it into CORIS yet.
For your own case, MyCourtCase searches by name, nine-digit number, citation, birth date, county, court type, location, and case type. Those options open once you finish the account steps. It is no anonymous stand-in for Xchange, though. When a fresh citation still has not shown up, the issuing Justice Court remains the best fallback. That court is the surest stop for the Box Elder County court docket.
